About Cash The Freshman
Multi-talented Tyrone Jermaine Dobbins, better known by his stage name Cash The Freshman, is an American born recording artist and songwriter. He is also 1/4 of the highly regarded independent group The Goon Dox. Accrediting some of hip hop’s elite, Outkast, Jay Z, Ludacris, Nas, 2Pac, BIG, L upe Fiasco, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre as to be among his many musical influences. Oddly, growing up he was never allowed to listen to Hip Hop music. The sounds of the listed artist were replaced by Jazz Icons Duke Ellington, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clark and Coltrane.
It was not until he was 17 years old that he began his real relationship with hip hop. Cash was born in Sacramento, CA. He started his music career in the fall of 2008, while enlisted in the U.S. Army. Despite deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan and being relocated to a town neighboring Atlanta, GA. He managed to land a 1 year exclusive production deal with producer GR8 TrackZ, A.K.A. Kevin Lamar Drummer and then band mate of SRC recording artist, Asher Roth. Cash went on to do shows up and down the East Coast. Opening for acts such as Jasmine Sullivan, Konvict Musik and Playaz Circle. In addition, he also started penning lyrics for local and regional R&B artists. There was potentially nowhere to go but up for the budding new artist. He eventually separated from GR8 in pursuit of his music dreams elsewhere.
After a fateful trip to Atlanta, GA., visiting a childhood friend Graphk, co-founder of the Goon Dox, opportunity showed its face yet again. Connecting instantly, Graphk proposed that he join his group The Goon Dox with fellow group member Styll. "These are my brothers. We grew up together and we share the same dream. Why not?" Fast Forward the next few years and Cash has released his debut solo project "The Freshman" featuring hit records "EVO" with The Goondox & P-Ware, "Wright Bros" with a guest appearance from Graphk and "Turn It Up" featuring the Goondox as a collective with L-Finguz who produced and recorded vocals. With more than 5, 000 streams and 2,000 downloads recorded in Norway & Sweden alone Cash is looking to push his "Freshmen" brand further with the release of his mixtape "Ya Favorite's Favorite" Hosted by Da Inphamus Amadeuz now available at coast2coastmixtapes.com and datpiff.com
