About Down aka Kilo

From the streets of Oxnard, CA, Down a.k.a. Kilo has made a legendary mark on not only Latin rap, but West Coast rap in general. His prior albums include features from almost every superstar West Coast rapper, including Snoop Dogg, Dazz Dillinger, Suga Free, Too Short, Nate Dogg, Baby Bash, and Cypress Hill, to name a few. Along with his producer Fingazz, also a noted regional legend, they created a song called "Lean Like a Cholo" that crossed every boundary in West Coast Latin rap music. This record became a part of pop culture, receiving millions of digital and ringtone sales, and inspiring several YouTubeC phenomenon spin-off covers. Down and Fingazz also recently created the title theme song for the smash Mundos television series "I Love Jenni" for Jenni Rivera.

Being an avid dog lover, Down was inspired by the work being done at the Villalobos Rescue Center and wanted to find a way to help. He approached his producer Fingazz, also an animal lover, with an idea to try and give back through music. They created an uplifting and inspiring song about the show, to bring light to the efforts of not only the Rescue Center, but the parolees themselves. Coming from the streets and making it, Down identifies with the Pit Bulls and the Parolees as misunderstood breeds with hearts of gold.
