About Fighting Chance Records

THE SOUND:

Imitating a four-piece band with a single acoustic guitar, Diana's percussive attack incorporates funky bass lines while pounding out explosive rhythms and attention grabbing leads. She accompanies her powerful instrument with a genuine storytelling passion which leaves her audience enticed to follow every word. Carl De Scott from the Examiner described Diana as, "very aggressive in your face style kinda' folk with a funky punk edge singer-songwriter."

THE BACKGROUND:

Growing up the daughter of a minister from 'small town PA', Diana soon discovered the power of lyrics when her music began to question the religious structure of her adolescent years. Not afraid to address taboo topics, Diana's lyrical content examines sexual encounters, the politics of religion and the paternal influences over a young woman.

Moving out on her own she quickly gained attention in the local open mic scene when she relocated to Pittsburgh. Soon after moving to Cleveland, OH she decided to pursue a more serious music career. She became a major player in the local music scene and opened shows at venues for acts such as Jennifer Batten (lead guitarist for Michael Jackson & Jeff Beck), blues guitarist Kelly Richey, and nationally known comedians Vickie Shaw and Suzanne Westenhoefer. Her talent and enthusiasm has allowed her to share the bill with headliners as diverse as Catie Curtis, Melissa Ferrick, Bitch, Katie Todd, and Kim Simmonds of Savoy Brown. Diana has headlined her own shows at venues like the Cleveland House of Blues Cambridge Room, The Winchester Music Hall and has gained regional attention by playing festivals, fundraisers and venues throughout the East Coast.

RADIO & INTERVIEWS & MORE:

Diana has received airplay and interviews on college radio stations, regional cable music programs and internet radio and podcasts. She has been recognized as a major player in the music scene and as Robert Conner from the Lakewood Patch puts it, "she is a young, energetic and a sassy guitar player… her voice has a raw soulfulness, and just enough sass. . . (she) is someone to keep an eye out for." Diana is currently creating her first full- length CD, scheduled to be released on her own artist run label, Fighting Chance Records, in May, 2012. Diana independently released her first EP titled, Soul, in 2009.
