Discovering Hip-Hop at the age of seven after a harrowing journey to escape the Nicaraguan civil war, Pedro el Poeta has had a long-term commitment to the Hip-Hop culture. From his powerful narrative voice, to his impressive wordsmithing, There isn't much this versatile artist can't do on a mic., on a stage, in the booth, or on a page. He has opened for national acts like Russell Simmon's Def Poetry Jam on Broadway, George Clinton & P. Funk; He has been a guest speaker at TED x Tampa Bay; his improvised poetry was 1/2 the soundtrack to an internationally acclaimed, multi-award winning short film; and his successes continue to grow.
