About James Abberley

James Abberley Is an Acoustic solo artist from Country South Australia, He was borne in 1991 and grew up in Owen SA, a small country town roughly 100km north of Adelaide.

“It all began when I was 13, my Uncle Willy use to busk in rundle mall when I was very young, he had an old Gibson Humming bird acoustic, a priceless guitar. When Uncle Willy passed away the few possessions he had were distributed through the family and somehow my family ended up with the guitar. It was so old and warped from the constant tension of the strings, but I loved it”

In September 2011 James Abberley released his debut album (Some Kind Of Relief). The launch was held at the Governor Hindmarsh and was a huge success. With over two hundred enthusiasts attending and an impressive 120 copies of James debut album (Some Kind Of Relief) were sold on the night, fair to say that James received quite the warm welcome.

Since releasing his debut album (Some Kind Of Relief) James has been busy performing live around Adelaide, including a residency at the Governor Hindmarsh and monthly performances at numerous other venues around town, Breacknock, The Duke, and the Grace Emily ext. . . .

At just 20 years of age this year is set to be huge for Abberley after recently supporting Xavier Rudd to a sellout crowd at the Governor Hindmarsh. “I wanted to just watch him and learn as much as I could, it was the pinnacle of my music career so far, a truly incredible experience and one that I will never forget”. James has also snagged a spot on the bill for this year’s well renowned Off The Couch event for 2012. He will be performing live in the Promethean on the 4th of May.

James will be promoting the release of his debut Album (Some Kind Of Relief) strongly in 2012, with follow up gigs around Adelaide. Look out for young talent James Abberley in your local gig guide.

James’s live shows have been described as energetic and relaxing at the same time, with a perfect blend of upbeat folk tunes and entrancing falsetto break downs. “Alone on stage with only a chair, acoustic guitar and bass drum with a pedal, Abberley’s vocal control and song composition was impressive”
