About EFE

So tell us about yourself and your company. Well, to start off, I go by the name EFE and I'm the owner and operator of EFE Productions. I started the company in 2008, which began strictly as a music production company. Beat making was the main focus at the time while slowly building a clientele list. That same year (2008), I attended Westwood College Online where I earned an Associates Degree in Graphic Design and Multimedia. Following graduation in 2011, graphic design was added to the production list of the company. As of still, I'm am the only operator of EFE Productions. Not saying thats how it will always be because in time I intend to develop it into a full fledged company.

What's the meaning behind your company's name? My artist name is EFE so I thought it would be convenient to incorporate it into the company name to keep spreading the message behind it. As some might know, my name is Frankie and the letter "F" in Spanish means EFE. However, there's a real meaning to my name, which is "Early For End." You know "E" for "Early," "F" for "For" and "E" for "End." The name derives from my childhood because as a youngster I was told by doctors I wouldn't live past two years old. Once I passed that point in time, I was told once again that I wouldn't see passed age twelve. In case your wondering why I was given such bad news at my start is because I have a form of Muscular Dystrophy called Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2. Due to the SMA complications, I'm wheelchair bound. To make a long story short, I chose EFE (Early For End) as my artist name because it seemed to fit so well.

Thanks for sharing your brief story with us. Now going back to what you said about building a clientele, who have you worked with and who would you like to work with? I've worked with many artists all over the country, from New York to California. I work merely with underground rappers such as, Mr. Chuko (Moses Lake, WA), Ready (Jamaica Queens, NY), JC Wicked (Lubbock, TX), Lil Sleepy (Antioch, TN), Mz Lovely (San Diego, CA), Ese YouXgst3r (Aurora, CO), La Oldies (California), Lil' E (El Paso, TX) and many more. Who I'd like to work with? As of right now, I'm down to work with anybody that would like to work with me whether it be for beats or graphic designs.

Who or what has been your biggest influences in life and the music business? Why? First off, God is my biggest influence because I truly believe that as long as you keep him/her in your life anything is possible. Take for instance my unexpected survival. Thats when the saying comes to mind, "Doctors can't play God." Secondly, my mom has been a big influence in my life because after age seven she raised me on her own. Those times weren't always good, but they were the best times in my life because she gave me everything she could and taught me how to be strong. I owe everything to her for sticking by my side through the rough years. Don't get me wrong I owe alot to my dad as well for being in my life until I was eight. We still keep in touch to this day and I have much love and respect for my pops. My aunt and uncle (Patsy and Delbert) have also been in my life everyday growing up. They stayed by my mom's and my side when we needed a shoulder to lean on. In my teen years, my mom remarried and my stepdad has also been a big influence in my life by teaching me who to trust and respect and who to kick to the side. Musically, I was influenced by Tupac Shakur for the truth he spoke in his music. I know he's been an influence in just about everyone's Hip Hop career, but I could really relate to the things he was speaking. Another influence has been Lil Rob because he set himself apart from every other rapper in the Chicano Rap scene. Plus he had a slick flow back in the day. I've had many musical influences, too many to name.

What equipment/software do you use in music and graphics creations? As of right now, I'm using a Mac computer with Pro Tools for recording and Native Instruments Maschine with a Behringer keyboard for beat production. For graphic design, I use various Adobe programs, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash and Premiere Pro.

What are your plans for the future as a musician/designer? As far as music goes, I plan to keep learning different beat making techniques by moving more toward original productions, but still keeping with sampling as well. For song recording and such, I plan to keep improving my lyrical writings as well as become a more versatile writer to meet the requirements of other genres. Its also good to be more versatile at recording so that you can give the listeners something different to hear instead of every song sounding the same as far as the recording process goes. That's what I want to focus on the music side. On the graphic design side, I plan to expand my knowledge by learning much more about website design/development, After Effects and Flash graphics. I'm also going to take the time to get the hang of Adobe Premiere Pro or the like for music video production. I don't expect to learn all of these things at once but within time I should be able to grasp the knowledge of each technique to bring a major improvement to EFE Productions.

Well, I believe we got the jist of you and your company, are there any last words or shout outs you would like to give? First and foremost, I would like to say thank you to all the people who support my movement. I'd also like to say thanks to those who have helped me with music, such as Oso aka Mr. Alaniz and C-Blunt. Be sure to check out their contact information in the Links page. As for graphic design help, I would like to say thank you to Rich Rau who has taught me plenty of Photoshop techniques that Westwood didn't. To all those following me for music or design, keep your eyes open for updates and specials. Also, please check out my blog and see the new projects I'll be working on as well as read my weekly thoughts. Thanks!
