About Vitreous

Vitreous is a Northern Virginia-based rock band who first hit the local music scene in 2006, released their first EP titled "Grand Illusion" in 2008 and is moving toward their first LP.

In it's early stages (2006 - 2007) the original lineup was much different. Formed in 2006 the band started with Justin Lavin, George S and Matt Stark. The band started out by jamming together and hosting several parties and playing at various venues in the local area. By the summer of 2007, focus shifted to writing original material and prepare for the following EP and later a full length album.

As time went on, line up changes were frequent. New players, role changes and departing members are just some of the changes that took place. In January 2008, the lineup was George, Matt Stark, Justin Lavin and Ian Murray on drums. However, roles yet changed once more as members changed again. The lineup was again restructured in November of 2008 with two new members (Guitar and Bass) and once more as George S decided to retire the microphone for a management position. The lineup is currently as follows:

George “Jay” Cole - Guitar
Matt Stark - Guitar/Vocals
Mike Beckert - Bass
Ian Murray - Drums

Vitreous is currently working with Grammy Nominated producer John Grant of Secret Sound Studio in Baltimore, Maryland to complete their debut LP.

Vitreous has a wide range of influences ranging from punk and death metal, to alternative and classic rock. There are several official sites to find more information on the band and it's current performance schedules and communications links.
