| About the beetroot kings | The Beetroot Kings are a Mansfield based five piece folk/rock/indie band that formed in the May of 2007. Gary Armstrong Lead Singer, Guitarist and Songwriter in The Beetroot Kings states, "It’s taken a lot of hard work to find the right musicians to build a band with as the stuff I write isn’t exactly mainstream (at the minute!!!) I met Dan Booth 7 years ago, he was playing fiddle in Warsop based band FEROCIOUS DOG, I was fronting New Ollerton based band MILE HIGH MOVER. Since meeting we met up regularly and jammed and the music we were coming up with was definitely our true passion”. Thus came forth the creation of The Beetroot King’s. After some crucial line up changes The Beetroot Kings now consist of the complete line up made up of Gary Armstrong lead vocals, guitar and keys, Daniel Booth on fiddle, Daz on bass guitar, Ben Haynes on drums and Graham Scott on guitar. The line up has been carefully arranged to compliment the material which has an earthy, raw powerful and infectious live sound. The sound and style is unique yet palatable to just about any music enthusiast and thus the band has gained a strong following, playing there large back catalogue of quality songs. 2008 has been a massively successful year for this very ‘young’ band with a headline slots played at The Bearded Theory Festival to 500+, a slot booked to headline Mansfield Folk Festival and even Strong Rumours that The Beetroot Kings will be playing at Beautiful Days festival this year. So now it is for you to listen and hopefully love what they have done and will continue to do for many years to come. |
