About Ellen Degenerate
|
Ellen Degenerate is a four piece punk rock outfit hailing from the “Rubber City Rust Belt” of Akron, Ohio. Created by Norse Law, the original guitarist and vocalist in early 2007, the response to this band was definitely positive. The release of their first album titled "Modern Girl" established punk rock e-zines across the Internet and it referred to them as “a tour de force”. After writing the original 10 tracks and recording them with studio musicians around Ohio Norse Law recruited the intensely focused Brad Shitt, former bass player of the Akron based metal band Amerikan Tragedy, and the technically talented drummer Zig. A few shows into the band’s development in late 2007, Norse Law stepped down as the band’s frontman to follow his own personal muse turning over the project to the dependable hands of Brad Shitt and Zig. Within a few weeks the two remaining Degenerates recruited the energetic Jay Something, former guitarist of the Kent based metal band Toe Cutter, and the great Fast Buck Freddy, former frontman of The Exploding Boy from Ashtabula County. With the lineup complete they immediately began writing new material and testing it out at local venues around the Akron and Kent areas, bashing and jumping all about with the reinvention of the pogo. What they came up with was "State of Emergency", an amalgamation of their combined influences such as Misfits, The Ramones, and The Dead Boys. Upon the release of the new CD the band continued to play local venues around Akron and Kent, Ohio and branched out into Cleveland to further spread the word of Ellen Degenerate. Touted by Cleveland Scene Magazine as a feisty bunch who “hate everything and everyone who’s ever been cool”, the band brings a stage show that’s full of the same spunk reminiscent as their influences on a nightly basis. Ellen Degenerate truly represents modern punk and pays tribute to old school punk at the same time. This crew of unpredictable musicians who love to sell merchandise is going to swindle their way to the top of the rock and roll industry. Ellen Degenerate, their music and stage show is something that has to be experienced to be truly appreciated for what it is…a tour de force of punk proportions!
