About Joy Moody

Writing songs most of my life, I enjoy all types of music. I put real life events into my lyrics. Something I think, will help to connect with other people, who have lived the same things. I hope you enjoy my songs.
Playing the guitar didn't come easy for me. Being left handed, I could not play with the hand I write with. Finally I learned to play right handed and picked it up quickly haha. Before long I was writing my own songs and composing my own music to the lyrics.
Never give up and never stop doing what you love.. I love playing with words and making them fit like a puzzle to the music. Pulling out emotions in people I have never met. We all have something in common and through my music I try to connect everyone.
Right now I am working on videos for the songs. Still doing studio work. Jeff Howell at Family Music Center has put countless Hours into these songs with me.. What a wonderful producer. He can make the music speak the words for me. I could not have done this without his help and talent. Jo Dowling thank you for helping me fix my album cover. The work you did and the time you took helping me fix this cover touches me deeply. You really came through for me when I needed you. Thank you so much.
Thank you to all my fans.. I write these songs for you. It humbles me so much when someone shares or says, when they heard that song it reminded them of something they had been through.. That is what it is about to me. I am so grateful and blessed to be able to do all the things God lets me do. I am not perfect and still learning everyday. how to better myself, and how to try and better the lives of the ones I love also. Hopefully with my music I can touch the hearts of people I have never met..
The song Lord Help Me I dedicate to Debbie Phillips. Rest In Peace sweet one you are loved and missed by so many. I wrote that song and even though it is upbeat like Debbie personality was, the song itself is about her passing and her husbands loss. You really think it is a break up till the last line of the last verse and you see she is gone to heaven. I kept the music upbeat to represent Debbie spunky side. She loved her family kids and grandkids with all her heart and soul and her husband was truly her soul mate. I miss her everyday.
The song This Whiskey Drinking woman was written by an idea my cousin Glen had. I thought about it a couple of weeks and wrote it and recorded it the same day. Thank you Glen for such a wonderful idea. I just used moments of our youth for the lyrics haha.
Really bad man was from a lady who came up to me after a gig I done and told me how much she enjoyed Hell of a Ride to Memphis. She explain a little of her life and said after a really bad man.. it clicked right then that phrase would make a good song. I just pictured what a really bad man might be and made a story out of it.
Stories make a song. They need to have feeling and reason. I get my hooks from listening to people talk.. I just wanted to let you know a little about how I come up with the type songs I write and sing. Hope you enjoyed hearing about them.
Peace to all love and Light and always try to be a joy in someone's life..
