About Alan Grant

Alan has been an active writer and performer, both as a solo artist and with bands for more than two decades. His original music blends "bluesy" rock with social and human issues that audiences all over have received enthusiastically. He has performed at major venues like the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, the Continental Arena, the Count Basie Theatre, Convention Hall, as well as dozens of national venues and clubs. As the founder of Primitive Soul, he has headlined at a variety of concerts, outdoor music festivals, and has donated much of his professional career to supporting and performing fund raising concerts all over the United States.

Alan has opened for Clarence Clemons,Poco,Dave Davies of the Kinks,and shared the stage with Jon BonJovi, Matchbox Twenty's Rob Thomas, Cyndi Lauper, Gary U.S. Bonds,Darlene Love, Bernard Purdie, Rob Papparozzi,Glenn Alexander, former Spin Doctor's guitarist Anthony Krizan, and members of Train, the Bare Naked Ladies, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes. Alan's music can be heard on Columbia Tri-Star's nationally syndicated reality show "ShipMates," as well as CNBC's annual special "Watch & Make Money" starring Alex Trebek. He also scored the independent film "CheckMates", which was submitted to the Sundance Film Festival. Outside of the more standard venues, Alan has performed in a variety of locales ranging from Florence, Italy, to Key West, Stowe Vermont, and Martha's Vineyard . He is proud to be a member of New Jersey's own Holiday Express, a group of professional musicians who have entertained and inspired audiences that include the Sept. 11th families, Columbine families, and hundreds of both civilians and military in Louisiana and Mississippi who are attempting to rebuild after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
