| About DocSoulo | Doc Soulo is an up-and-coming east coast rapper with a grimy past, also known as Myster Mystery Myth, he has an unique and dynamic sound and ever-changing style, broad enough for most any fan base. Richard David Robinson Jr. was born in Plantation, Florida on March 6, 1984. He was the only son of Lauren Robinson, now deceased (6-6-60 to 12-6-06); a pure hustler housewife (Italian / Irish), and Richard David Robinson Sr., (Italian / Native American). Richard Sr. left when Richard Jr. was eight years old, leaving his mother to raise him and his sister, Rachael Robinson (born 4-20-82), alone. Soulo was a horrible student, due to boredom and hatred for systems, schemes and false authority, he was nicknamed “Doc” due to his cynical idea that no one was a true doctor. He grew up with an extreme and constant chaotic life after age eight, and even before because of his mother's worsening alcoholism. He started chronically doing drugs around the age of fourteen. The drastic life change that occurred on March 4th, 1992 turned him into a troubled young man. Him, his mother and sister moved seven times because of the lifestyle. He attended many catholic schools and was expelled from St. Anthony Middle School and wasn't allowed in any catholic schools in Fort Lauderdale, which forced him to Sunrise Middle School. Later expelled again from Cardinal Gibbons High School in 2000. At the age of sixteen, Soulo dropped out of school all-together and became further involved with heavy drug use and criminal activities, arrested on a D.U.I. charge in 2004, drug possession in 2006, along with the confiscation of a handgun, and sentenced to 1 year of probation. A few years later, he was arrested for a disturbance at the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood and never had to serve prison time. He started rapping at a young age, and made a demo tape using the name Doc Soulo. He's been unsigned but scouted by many phonies and unconnected people in the industry. Soulo began releasing a series of mixes under the name DSOULO, and collaborated on a number of projects. His first underground solo was on an album named 'Blind Magic', the single ‘Phuckin Kidz’ reached mostly a wide-spread internet base. His first solo album, recorded in his bedroom with a twenty dollar microphone and Cool Edit Pro, the Blind Magic LP was released on January 14, 2004, and remains rare and underground. Shifting the focus to East Coast Conscience rap. In 2004 he did small battles and open mics here and there though-out South Florida. A very 'special' moment was when he actually "stole a show" in front of about 150 people in a packed bar. An unknown rock band was playing. The front man's guitar string broke, as he took a five minute break to re-string, the drummer and bass player started a break beat. Before Soulo's friend could finish the sentence "I bet you won't go up on that stage". He saw Soulo disappear into the crowd. He got on stage and started spitting freestyle off the top of his head. The crowd was entranced, until they broke out wild, girls dancing up front and the rest still in shock, nodding their heads. The Lead man didn't want his thunder stolen, so he begins to nudge him off stage while the entire crowd booed him for doing so. In late 2004, Soulo’s group Elohim, consisting of only himself and his main partner in rhyme, Buonarroti a.k.a. MFMRAM set off the tone for what was and is to come. Many singles were made by the two, the most popular "Samurais on the Playground", two brand new singles of the same magnitude are coming soon. Soulo continues to work with other artists, collaborating on a number of songs. In September, 2009, Soulo began working with Phamous Models' CEO Newt Turner, and created 'Life is Unfair', produced by Sinema Beats with an Anivideo on YouTube made by Phamous Models' Newt Turner, himself. Soulo's in the midst of chasing his dreams. Look out. -Gracey May |
