About theAdequits

About me:
I was born in Boston, MA. I began playing bass at age 10 on a 1965 Gibson SG. I finally decided to switch to guitar, which formed the foundation for the unique sound that is theAdequits.

When and how did you get started in music?
It all started in Dec. 1998... Mikey met Kerry who knew Johnny... & that was the beginning...

What are your career goals?
If the only thing we're capable of doing in this life is being a band and making music that inspires people in a positive way then thats enough for us...

Describe your "sound"
theAdequits are a unique blend of musical tastes, their power-pop punk rock sound, fronted by Kerry makes for an aggressively entertaining experience , with her sweet, yet snide vocals (imagine if you put Johnny Rotten and Whitney Houston in a blender), Mikey terrorizing his Ibanez 7-string guitars, Johnny devising scientific madness on the drums w/ special guests Rob & Russ on bass...

Who are your musical influences?
Before it fell victim to the clutches of commercialism, pop-punk actually did mean something. Because it was punk, the pop part of it had that extra passion that comes with being a teenage outcast. And you could actually hear the influence of first-wave punk bands, something that seems to elude the tenth-rate GreenDay clones of today. South Florida's theAdequits take a good decade-and-a-half step back to those bygone days when the mark of the Descendents was still felt and the Ramones were more than just a name to drop to bolster one's punk cred. The female vocals of Kerry O'Connor sound more like the Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde than, say, Gwen Stefani

Talk about your last project
Before theAdequits there was C.U.Nex2'sDay a power pop - happy core - punk rock band. Fronted by Kerry O' with her sweet yet snide vocals (kinda like if you put Johnny Rotten and Whitney Houston in a blender!), Michael terrorizing his Ibanez 7-string guitars, Johnny devising scientific madness on the drums and Rich grooving out on his bass... also Matt from "Ol Rebel Yeller" south floridas rudest cow punk band on Fender & Gibson 6 string guitar... Prior to theAdequits & C.U.Nex2'sDay there was uNkL ShyNi South Florida's Ska Core band, before that was the moldy figs Palm Beaches Alternative Garage Punk band on CMR Records & yes, before that a brief gig with South Florida's Hard Core band Meatlocker on Progress Red Records & Nuclear Blast Records...
