Shana Monique Simms also known as N-nasense is an 23 year old African American woman soon to take the female hip hop market under her reign. N-nasense was raised on the South side of Chicago . Her mother a nurse who was a "Good Girl" and her father a hustler exposing her to the harsh realties of society. The exposure to both her mom and dad’s lifestyles created a balance within her that holds relevance in her rap lyrics; She discovered her appreciation for music at the age of six. As a result of her passion for music, she and her younger brother formed the group Upside Down Kidz , this is when she became aware of her singing and song writing abilities. After nearly three years of self discovery, Shana realized that rapping was her calling. She started with writing poetry that soon developed into witty rap lyrics. Shana showcased this new found talent by rapping hot verses w/ her peers in high school and church. Shortly afterwards, Shana felt the need to reinvent herself. Inspired by a verse she wrote, one word stood out to her “Innocence“. She then decided to change the spelling to N-nasense. She felt this name to be appropriate since her peers and rap colleagues describe her as “Sweet as a butterfly but stings like a bee”. N-nasense’s lyrical content defines what a woman is. She paints the picture that illustrates women emotions. This is evident in songs like “No Not Yet” where she expresses to her love interest that she rather wait before becoming intimate with him. This is a message that young women can relate to and need to hear. However, you have some more heavier songs like “Clapped Up” that is showcasing N-nasense lyrical capabilities, gaining respect from men and admiration from women worldwide. N-nasense has performed at the House of Blues, The Taste of Chicago, Club Veritgo, Cotton Club, Club Majestics, and several park districts throughout Chicago . These performances created critical connections that has contributed to her artist development. You can find several Pepsi commercial drops on www.youtube.com that N-nasense has been apart of. These drops include the previous “It’s the Cola” slogan and the T-pain mic pass. Also, her collaborations with LIHDIE ENT and Crucial Conflict’s “Never” has generated her over 20,000 hits over the web. These writing experiences has molded N-nasense to a well versed writer who can deliver on several levels. N-nasense has developed a strategy to pursue her passion for future goals in the music industry. She’s currently working in the banking profession as a financial cushion to finance her lifetime passion. She knows that education is an ultimate key and tool of empowerment to develop her business acumen to control her own finances. So she enrolled in college to expand her personal niche for marketing her talents and skills as a performer, songwriter, print modeler, and lyricist. Shana’s long term goal is to make a positive difference in the music industry. Her business partner Darnell Morris (Trakk Addik) and herself has formed a partnership launching 7 Wonders Entertainment. N-nasense is more than a name but a statement. Her versatility, class, business sense, personality, and lyricism makes her have international appeal potential. She understands that tenacity , patience, education, and hard work are required to make her aspirations of being a president of majorly successful company come true.
