About Not on Mono

Over the last few years Woody has been building a reputation as a fine ambient electronic musician with listeners and appreciators of his sonic vibrational art from all over the globe.

He has also collaborated with a number of musicians including a gong player and a sitar specialist.

Though not a commercial success, Woody views success as just being able to move one listener and that has certainly been accomplished. Influences include John Foxx, Tangerine Dream, Pink Floyd, psychedelic and Indian music.

Hard to pin down as a static electronic genre as he drifts from one to another never staying still or has he says "transferring, moving on".

Woody Woods is an ambient electronic musician and producer based on the Isle of Anglesy in North Wales.
A former preacher and exorcist, a cinema freak with a fascination with electronic and psychedelic music that goes back over 30 years Woody Woods, after being involved with many musical projects (many mainly as a hobby) created the 3rd Heaven Project, a name he dropped in 2011 in favour of using his namesake but later restored for future live events.

He also recently appeared and consulted on Derren Brown's "Miracles for Sale" TV show. A project that he consider to be "absolution" for his years of suffering in what he now describes as a "Christian cult".

Music has always been an integral part of his life. Early influence such as psychedelic, punk and electronic/ambient music have been the driving force being what he described at the time as "abstract ambient electronica". He describes his work as merely "a hobby" but recently has felt a need to make his music accessible to many more people. His first attempt in making music was in 1979 with bass player James Davies, they formed a one off project called "Concrete Towers" and recorded a track of the same name using a bass, taped electronic sounds and believe it or not...a metal detector! In mid 1980, using only a moog prodigy, he recorded (in mono) "The feeling of water" e.p. which was never released formally. "A strange bit of music that! I had to do over layer upon over layer of tracks, to be honest, a bit of a mess". Working as a drummer and assistant pastor in a local church, this demanded a great deal of his time; however the disbanding of this church in 1994 began what was as Woods describes "the dark years. "Issues in the family were causing great distress to my former wife and myself and but for the grace of God, we would never of made it." During that time in 1997, Woody began to access the world of computer based music. Using midi software, virtual synthesizers, drum machines, samples and loops, the 3rd heaven Project was birthed.

Since then Woody has released dozens of albums and EP's. A lot of the music he give away for free. His sound ranges from ambient/psychedelic to more beat driven electronica with as always, an ambient touch.

Woody dropped the name 3rd Heaven Project and now just goes under his guise.

He is always looking for new ideas and concepts and welcomes collaborators and has enjoyed working with a few of them in the past.

Plans to play live events are still under consideration as Woody is musically a private person. "I want the music to do the talking, the last thing people need to see amongst all the ambient vibrations is me".

LATEST: I am now under the guise of NOT ON MONO. A darker, melancholic type of ambience. More to follow.
