About Chozen Few

You might be riding down the New Jersey shore this hot summer, top down, music blasting till Ocean Avenue ends and you some how find yourself in the middle of Main Street in Asbury Park, NJ. Your first instinct is to lower the beats and lock the doors, you want to put the top up, but don't want to pull over. Ever since a riot on Independence Day of 1970, smack in the middle of the Northern New Jersey's seaside lies a black hole, surrounded on three sides by New Jersey suburbia, earning it the nick name Dark City.

Abandoned Asbury Park was the perfect breeding ground for two of the hungriest MC's the world has ever had to offer. Who better to understand the daily struggle of America's ghettos than those who lived and breathed it every day, but only a bridge crossing away were taunted by some of the finest the world had to offer. Chozen Few has first hand experience with how cruel and corrupt today's political system really is. Only a few blocks over is America's third best school district, yet the small 1 mile by 1 mile Asbury Park sees more crime in its city than the entire county it is part of combined.

Chozen Few not only gives those in any project or ghetto across America music that they can ride and relate to, but also provoke thought and rehabilitation to the dying music industry and the falling United States as well. Chozen Few is in the forefront of the New Industry movement with St.Laz, where the new hip-hop mainstream returns to where it came from, the underground.

Chozen Few, founded by Snub Hollow, was created as a way out of the hood for Snub. A young 16 year old hustler, Snub was known for the free vanilla dutch accompanying his potent product. Though successful, older more mature Snub took his surroundings as reminder that this was not a profession he could hold forever. Snub's natural ability to put words together and paint vivid pictures of reality prompted him to start Chozen Few, having felt chosen to rap and represent his hood. Along with mixtape DJ C.LoS master of web marketing & Forecast as CEO, managing and keeping shit legit, Chozen Few became the rap team destined to lead Asbury to the lime light.

Many come but only one was chosen, and that was Young Tef, who when discovered was only 16 years old. Young Tef was not only tearing everyone down in the lunch room, but the basketball courts and street corners as well, catching the ear of Snub's mixtape DJ, C.LoS. After a few pesky phone calls for some FREE studio time, C.LoS finally allowed the hungry youngin' to lay down a freestyle. C quickly realized that the young boy had skill! Flippin flows and laying punches like the majors, with a splash of that young blood enthusiasm. The recording found its way to Snub who recruited the boy with no hesitation.

A troubled Tef was moved from home to home discouraging him from staying in school and hit the block at a young age. One year even sent of to Florida for a few months, leaving the future of Chozen Few uncertain. Young Tef never hesitated though, even recruiting some from his temporary home in Florida to join the Chozen Few movement. Before they knew it, Tef was back in town, and this time to stay.

From its early beginnings in 2003, Chozen Few has grown into the most influential and well known rap group in the state of New Jersey despite its still underground status. CF soon joined forces with Brooklyn, NY based powerhouse, New Industry Records, under the No. 1 indie artist in the world, St.Laz. Partnering with such a b>well connected and respected label opened the doors to great opportunities. Chozen Few had recorded songs with London's most successful rap group, SAS, and also landed some big collaborations with Houston's underground all-star, Magno aka Magnificent, once of Swisha House. Their street lyrics and fresh flows also attracted some of the east coast revival hopefuls like, Remo Da Rapstar, Tom Gist & Jay Bezel of Dipset, Smack DVD's Murda Mook & more! Boosting them to release the highly anticipated "Well Connected, Well Respected", landing it the No. 1 spot its first week according to DatPiff.com, the source for all street mixtapes. Together with New Industry, Chozen Few will be the dawn of a new and brighter day in hip-hop, hopefully empowering these young stars to bring Asbury Park back to the glory it once had.
