About R. Christopher Teichler

Dr. R. Christopher Teichler has been an active musician for over 20 years as composer, conductor, performer and teacher. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Composition from the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music, and a Master of Music and Doctor of Music degrees in Composition from Northwestern University. As a gifted composer, Dr. Teichler has received awards from Wheaton College, the Elmhurst College Jazz Festival, WFMT 98.7 FM Chicago, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), and the National Band Association. In addition to self-publishing many of his works, Dr. Teichler has music is published by the Kjos Music Company, TRN Music, BRS Music and Pelican Music Publishing. A wide range of ensembles and musicians regularly commission Dr. Teichler; ranging from middle school bands and orchestras through professional and college level ensembles and soloists.

An accomplished conductor, Dr. Teichler has directed numerous ensembles including orchestra, wind ensemble, jazz band, choir, musical theatre and opera for Wheaton College, Trinity International University, the Round Lake Area Community Band, and West Suburban Community Church.

A respected teacher, he has taught composition, conducting, aural skills, trumpet, and piano at Wheaton, Trinity, Northwestern University, DePaul University, as well as private instruction. Currently, Dr. Teichler is on faculty at Trinity International University, where he directs the Trinity Community Philharmonic Orchestra, the jazz band, and teaches composition, as well as DePaul University, where he teaches Aural Training and Understanding Music. He also serves as the music director at West Suburban Community Church in Elmhurst, IL. He resides in Aurora, IL with his wife, Sarah, and their four beautiful children.
