About JayVon Phillips

From humble beginnings in East Harlem to one of R&B’s brightest rising talents, JayVon Phillips is first and foremost about the music. A childhood spent tinkering on the piano and studying voice soon gave way to the joys and pains of urban culture, and through this mix of street and soul his artistic passions were established.

In 2004, he began laying down tracks in basement studios, initially honing a straight R&B sound. This sound soon took on futuristic elements when, in 2009, he began recording “The Demo EP” with producers CJ Chatman and Arkane (The Geek Squad). While these early recordings established JayVon’s R&B flair, his voice was too diverse to get caught up in one specific genre. He also couldn’t shake the great innovation he developed from his mother’s work as a Jazz singer. Soon, his lyrics gave way to different themes and he found himself drawn to the world of pop melodies and hooks. JayVon’s musical journey greatly inspires the new tracks he has currently been working on with producer Gerardo Giraldo. His latest song, “You Used To Be,” meshes fresh beats and smooth vocals, with pop/rock melody lines and hooks. The outcome is an inspired and fresh take on traditional pop/rock.

This isn’t your typical pop/rock music. This is pop/rock for a new age. It’s a musical progression from urban to pop. It’s about love, and loss, and taking risks. JayVon makes music for all walks of life and music so addictive it’s sure to get stuck in your head from the minute you press play.
