About These Black & White Flames

Who are you? I hear you ask,

Well, we formed in March 2008 as The Lollypop Kids when two friends Paul (Drums) & Rick (Guitar & Vocals) finally got their act together after over 15 years of saying…”We really ought to get a band together”. We quickly became a three piece with the addition of Andy (Guitars) an ex band mate from Paul’s previous band (The Flux Capacitors)

We quickly cracked on with writing based around the original plan for the band, as we set out on being Alt-country/Americana. With the addition of a couple of quickly changing bass players (Stu Di-Tanna & Tom Carpenter) the songs gradually evolved into a completely different beast. & through constant gigging we gained the confidence we needed to grow & evolve further With our (hopefully) final line up change, the addition of new bassist Matt (ex Dead Man’s Finger 6 stringer) & a name change, we finally got what we’ve been striving for all along

We are THESE BLACK & WHITE FLAMES ...The best band you've never heard of!

Sheffield Boardwalk, 07/01/09 ''Over the past 30 years Sheffield Boardwalk has been host to many legendary outings from some of Britain's finest bands. Although whether or not South Yorkshire quartet THESE BLACK & WHITE FLAMES' debut outing will be added to that long list remains unseen, the one thing is clear is that on the strength of this six-song offering there's a lot to be excited about. Clearly drawing from American rock influences, tracks such as 'Don't Worry 'Bout Me' are driven forward with a refreshing urgency, an urgency that contrasts well with the slow burn of tracks such as 'Everything's You'. Throw in a cover of Ryan Adam's 'My Winding Wheel' and you couldn't ask for a more balanced debut, despite the odd, to be expected, nerves. A brief but promising glance of things to come.''
