Ilse Lotz started playing music with her father, George Lotz of The Silver Creek Mountain Band, in 1995 and performed at various functions and venues in Pretoria, including Up the Creek in Gerhard Moerdyk street. In 2004 she formed BoneKey, along with Wynand Davel and Franco Jamneck, and recorded the critically aclaimed Heartsong, an album voted the 13th best album to come out of South Africa in the past 25 years by Die Beeld newspaper in 2010.
