About Rusty Bough

Go to RUSTYBOUGH.COM to here all my music. Thanks. Born July 8, 1958, in Lawton, OK, Rusty Bough was born Roland D Bough Jr, one of four children belonging to Roland and Barbara Bough. Country music could always be heard in the Bough household, Rusty soaked up the sounds of Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and others like a sponge. When Rusty was nine years old his father went to serve in Vietnam, and his family moved to upstate NY and lived with his grandfather, Rusty’s fondest childhood memories are of that time. In 1969 his father had returned from war and was stationed in Germany. It was there at ten years old that Rusty was given a guitar his father had found in a trash bin on base. The guitar was nothing fancy, but it had all 6 strings and that’s all Rusty needed to start his lifelong love of music. Later for his 16th birthday he was given a brand new guitar that was his main guitar for over 25 years. In 1975 Rusty joined the Army and was stationed in Germany. While there he continued to play his favorite classic country songs. In 1978 Rusty performed publicly for the first time at the Melody Ranch in El Paso, Texas. During the 80’s 90’s Rusty continued to play at family functions and other public and private settings. In 2001, difficult financial times forced Rusty to part with the guitar his father gave him back in 1974. After a long year of not having a guitar, Rusty made the decision to put a lot more into his music. From 2002 forward he began performing publicly again and over the next several years played dozens of shows each year. In 2009 Rusty moved to California in the hopes of advancing his music career. It was a disappointing couple of years in California with no forward progress at all. In 2011 Rusty moved back east, to Mount Vernon, Georgia. The peace, quiet and solitude of Southeast Georgia agreed with Rusty and by the end of the year he had composed several new songs, recorded an acoustic Country Album (I Call Her Baby) and a Christian Music Album (A Wing And A Prayer). They were released by Open Range Records the first week of 2012 thru ITUNES.COM, AMAZONMP3.COM, MUSIC.GOOGLE.COM and several other mp3 download sites.
