| About Romeo Rocha | What’s in a name… that which we call Romeo Rocha, would by any other name, not sound as sweet… Growing up with the name Romeo is not easy. However, Romeo’s parents must have known what they were doing when they named their son. Perhaps they sensed a sentimental soul in him, a romantic and a lover. Although, these qualities aren’t going to help you on the tough streets of Romania growing up under the communist dictatorship of Ceausescu. So luckily for him he was given two names: Hector Romeo. Hector, the great fighter; a quality which appears as another facet of the personality and music of this performer and artist. He had to learn to be tough, to see all sides of life, to be strong enough to face hardship and make it through with enough soul intact to still be able to still smell the roses along the way of his own odyssey. Thus, we give you, Romeo Rocha. His artist’s name symbolizes much of what his music represents. It embodies contrast, taking on different dynamics as it switches and morphs from one style to another, from his unique glance of pop-rock to tender love ballads biting or from political reggae-ska inspired from the harsh realities on the streets to sunshiny latino beats. Romeo always says himself that he is the product of two dictatorships (PINOCHET - CEAUSESCU)… ‘I go around all the days with melodies in my mind..why do I write music? Why do I play music? I guess, I just want to put out my messages to the world!Music is my way of communication. Playing live, make others happy, and seeing smiling faces dancing I SIMPLY ENJOY ; ) |
