| About Renny J | My name is “Renny J”, from Brooklyn, NY. I hear that some consider me one of the premier accomplished bass players of recent years. My grandfather & father (Reunald Sr. & Jr. respectively) were well known & accomplished trumpet players. Together, they've both played with artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Quincy Jones, The Famous Flames, the JB’s (James Brown), & Nat King Cole, Sammy Davis Jr., as well as with Motown & other well-known artists. You can hear my dad's signature trumpet every time you hear the “Sanford & Son” & “Ironside” theme song. Because of my unique playing style, I have recorded w/ the Funk Band Parliament/Funkadelic (“Clones of Dr. Funkenstein album), Donna Summer, Billy Ocean, Toni Braxton, Teena Marie, Alkicia Keys, and a host of artists. I made my first solo recording in 1987 of the song “Her”, “Season Of Love”, & Angel Of My Dreams”, writing all the music myself and playing all the instruments. I play bass guitar, rhythm guitar, drums, percussion & keyboards. |
