| About Sindulgence | SHORT BIO: Sindulgence is a metal band started in April 2009 by Ryan Eberlin and Rodney Dosson. Our music is extremely diverse and difficult to describe, drawing influences from anything like old-school legends such as Iron Maiden and Metallica, to more modern established musical wizards like Trivium, Lamb of God, Mastodon, Dimmu Borgir and System of a Down – but really, the list of influences is endless. FULL BIO: Sindulgence is an Experimental Metal band from Cape Town, South Africa - formed in early 2009 when Ryan Eberlin (Guitarist) had left his former band in search of a heavier genre. He and Rodney Dosson (now Guitarist) soon got together and, after a jam session, decided to start a metal band. During 2009 until late 2010, the band had undergone several major changes regarding band members, management, labels, musical and lyrical direction: resulting in a massive fluctuation of identity, genres, direction, fan-base, equipment and so forth. But somehow, these passionate and relentless musicians rose above all obstacles and came out flourishing. From 2011 to date, the line up consists of Ryan Eberlin, Rodney Dosson, Muller Van Niekerk, Byron Dinwoodie and Michael Snyman: This team of unique and self-motivated musicians draw influences from hundreds of different bands ranging from old-school heavy metal to modern extreme metal genres, not to mention various other non-metal influences as well (even bordering on country, indie, jazz, blues, folk and electronic genres). Not only is their genre very unique, but the group has also been known to use strange and progressive song structures and even use rare and odd time signatures resulting in extremely complex songs that envelop and entrance the listener. Sindulgence has performed alongside many local well-known artists such as Strident, Mind Assault, Crow Black Sky, Betray the Emissary, Azrail, Imperium of Man, Ing, Infanteria, A Walk With the Wicked, SuiderbeeS and countless others. The band has been included on many local festivals such as Noise Fest, Rock the River, Crimson Monolith, Fresh Blood, Hooligans Biker Festival, Obz Fest and SoundWaves - receiving positive critical acclaim from all audiences who have heard them, with the same question constantly popping up: “What genre are you?” With all this hype building up and the fabled year of 2012 approaching, Sindulgence announced that they would be releasing not only their debut full length album, but also a full-length documentary DVD within the same release as the album itself. The album is entitled “Recollections” and according to the band, is due for release June 2012. Sindulgence also helps host and promote local gigs and other local artists. This passion for music and making a difference, coupled with their comedic and easy-going positive attitudes makes them both loved and respected by their fellow colleagues in the industry. Regarding the long-term goals for the band, Sindulgence is striving to get signed by a Record Label and tour the world, making music and putting on shows that every Metal-head would be proud to mosh to! |
