About The Singing General - Daniel York | Our Founder and Director, Daniel York brings forty years of leadership experience to include his current position as the Commanding General of the 76th Operational Response Command, a U.S. Army Reserve organization headquartered in Salt Lake City, UT. Growing up in Okinawa, South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, and across the United States, he learned much about leading in different cultures and settings. Dan graduated from West Point in 1981 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He served with the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division and as a Company Commander deployed his unit to the Middle East. In 1986 he joined the Army Reserves where he served as a commander at every level to include his most recent selection to command the 86th Division. Dan served on staff with The Navigators for ten years during which time he received a Master of Divinity from Bethel Seminary (West) in San Diego, CA before moving with his family in 1991 to Oregon to plant and pastor Horizon Community Church. In 2000, he started the nonprofit First Cause, an organization committed to developing leaders currently active in five countries. He has written five books and recorded seven albums of original music. He and his wife Kathleen have been married for over 29 years and have three children (Bryan, Sarah, and Stephen) and one grandson (Jadon). |
