About Ladi J

Jasmyn 'Ladi J' Williams has been writing poetry for as long as she can remember. Poetry runs in her family so she really did not have a choice. She has been writing all her life but started performing in 2006 and hasn't turned back. In October of 2006 Ladi J was born and she performed one of her favorite poems "God." She believes in black power, God, and getting your feelings out on paper is the pathway to healing. Her debut album entitled The Emancipation: The Birth of Ladi J was released February 28, 2014. The album is available on Amazon, Google play, iTunes, Emusic, Rhapsody, Spotify, and Bandcamp! You can also get a signed copy of the album directly from Ladi J! She is also in a documentary called "Ready" with 4 other artists that can be found on YouTube. You can also find many videos of her on YouTube! She also has a Internet radio show called "The Poets Lounge" on youhavetolisten.com or YHTL mobile app which airs every Tuesday from 6-8pm (Eastern Standard Time). She is working on a workshop for youth and hopefully all ages called "Poetry is Healing."

Coming December 9th, 2014 Ladi J will be releasing her new single "Bare It All On Stage." Back in December of 2013 she found out she had epilepsy after years of not knowing what was going on and now she is ready to share the story which will also launch the "Bare It All On Stage Epilepsy Campaign" to raise money and awareness to epilepsy! Stay tuned!

Other than poetry Ladi J works a full time job at Kennedy Krieger Institute's Montgomery County School where she works with autistic kids with problem behavior. She is also in a grad school program at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology working on her masters in counseling psychology. She also serves at her church, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where her father is the pastor.

As an advocate for the liberation of black people she exudes that through her poetry. She says, "All I wants to do is be heard so that change can be made and that this poetry thing runs deep."
