About Rae Ellis

Rae Ellis brings to gospel music a marriage of what she believes to be the richest sound in music past and present. Reminiscent yesteryears, she captivates a sound that is as raw yet melodic such as the voice of Billy Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald or Nina Simone, coupled with the awareness and lyrical responsiveness of neo-soul artists such as Jill Scott, and Chrisette Michele all while never neglecting the power and anointing of gospel music. This songwriter and vocalist was born in Cleveland, OH and raised in Buffalo, NY where she served in music ministry under her late father, Bishop Nathan S. Halton. It was in Buffalo, NY where she after honing her craft, was given the opportunity to share the stage or sing behind the greats such as, Celine Dion, Tramaine Hawkins, Kim Burrell, The Clark Sisters, Rev Timothy Wright, Douglas Miller, Rev. John P. Key, so many more. She also has had the opportunity to work with producers such as Aaron Lindsay, Doobie Powell and Cedric Thompson. She was later asked to sing and became a member of Tyscott recording Artists "UNEEK" After completing her education in Atlanta GA, she transported to Charlotte, NC where she now resides. In 2009 Rae will release " The Diary Of Rae Ellis", an anointed, soulful project in which she was extremely hands on producing/co-producing, writing and arranging. Rae says, "This project is a reflection of a multitude of things, it's God's thoughts towards his people, his desires from them, my thoughts towards God and finally and most importantly an invitation to become a member the greatest family in the Universe which is the Christian Family. It's not about the skills I possess, it is however about the KINGDOM and I'm a citizen." Look For This power packed project in stores 2009.
