About Shy Mitchell

Terrell Mitchell (born October 18, 1986) known professionally as Shy Mitchell is a singer-songwriter, occasional rapper, and entrepreneur.
His music has the sound of RnB/hip hop with undertones of soulful rock.

Shy’s musical influences vary from Rock music from his youth and RnB/Hip Hop. Some of his inspirations include Nelly, Floetry, Chris Cornell, Lil Wayne, Kanye West and Incubus.

Raised in Niagara Falls, Ontario, his love of music was inspired by his parents who come from strong musical backgrounds. His mother, a singer and his father a guitarist for New World Productions, both established themselves among labels such as RCA, CBS Records and many more.

Creating music has always been a strong source of focus for Shy. Growing up, he enjoyed listening to hip hop and started writing in his late teens. He would play around with computers making beats and recording his ideas.

In his early 20's Shy and a few friends put some money together and opened a music studio in Niagara Falls. Shy was able to experiment with sounds and explore new beats. He earned his stage name of "Shy" as he was often too reserved to jump in and participate in freestyle circles with his friends. As his talent evolved, Shy performed with artists such as Karl Wolfe, Lloyd Banks, Danny Fernandez, Elephant Man and many more.
