About Brotherhood Band

Friends! Welcome to the Brotherhood Band Artist Page.

The Brotherhood Band consists of Major Hemkumar Tamang and Major Jase Buckley of the 2nd Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles, British Army. The band's music can be described as 'world' by genre but essentially aims to fuse traditional Nepalese musical forms (both instruments and style) with Western orchestration and arrangements. Lyrics are sung in both Nepali and English and relate to Gurkha service to the British Crown, running now for 200 years!

A number of tracks on Gurkhali Saathi feature soldiers from 2RGR and Sgt Phurba Tamang and Rifleman Deepak Gurung (Jai A Coy!) deserve a special mention.

For those that are interested in the technical stuff, all the instruments and vocals you hear on the record are performed by either Hem or Jase (and sometimes our special guests)! The band uses industry standard DAW to layer individual performances and create the songs that we hope you enjoy!

The purpose of Gurkhali Saathi is to celebrate 200 years of Gurkha service to the British Crown. All proceeds from downloads of the album will go directly to the Gurkha Welfare Trust, a wonderful charity which is primarily focused on delivering welfare support to Gurkha veterans in Nepal, our spiritual home.

We hope you enjoy the record!

Jai Brigade of Gurkhas!!
