About Miriam Shaw

Words from the heart enter the heart, especially when they're wrapped in melody. And when hearts connect, the light shines, and the world is a bit brighter. My music is very down-to-earth but reaches heavenly realms. It's honest, sincere, and I try to be funny when I can. It has remained a simple style, mostly because I chose to develop a large family rather than my musical abilities.

And people seem to like its simplicity. Maybe it helps them feel like they also don't have to be so professional ALL THE TIME. I recently sang for some women, and when I was introduced, one of them said, "Oh, someone else I can be jealous of." But her face lit up when I started singing about how, being a busy mother, I'm the last one to take a bath.

Life is full of struggles. But if I can help you see the world through fresh eyes, give you a bit of hope, faith, belief in your own goodness and that of others, then I am succeeding in my life's purpose. We never truly know the impact we make on other people's lives. We are like lighthouses that shine into the night, not knowing how many ships we have prevented from crashing into the rocks. My songs were born from my struggles, pain, depths of depression, despair, and triumph. I experience each one as a gift from G-d, a reward for having survived. I am a Jew, and I sing from my soul, the eternal piece of G-d within me. One young woman said when she listens to my songs she always feels inspired and connected. I hope you will too.
