| About Karison Records | My name is Roberto Aleman -Manzano Jr. My Stage name is Bobby Aleman . I was born in �EL Callejon de Mata 7� in the Barrio of Guanabacoa, La Habana,Cuba. But I grew up around el �Parque Fabrica� Luyano. I never had any musical training in Cuba, and I did not come from a musical family either, but as Bob Marley used to say� Who Jah Bless, no men courses� or as we said in Cuba �Lo que DIOS te dio, San Pedro te lo bendiga�. In Cuba for many musicians the Academy is �El Solar�.. Sara Manzano (my paternal GrandMother) took me to my 1st Rumba when I was 2 � and ever since I had that Clave ticking in my heart. After that my love affair with La Rumba has been nothing short of a BLIND PASSION. So needless to say that Afro-Cuban Music is my first passion and my forte. I won�t say that I�m 100% self-made musician. I did took a few music classes @ M.A.T.C. Madison under Mr: Peronto and Barber: Basic Music Theory I n� II; also Preparatory keyboard, vocal classes and Strings. I was trying to gather enough credits to get into the UW School Of Music. But then I drop out of College. The first genre of music that I started to play as soon as I learnt to play the Bass was Reggae. For a beginner like me Reggae was easier than all that syncopate Afro-Cuban Music Jazz or Latin Jazz, Salsa, e.t.c. So Reggae were baby steps into the World of WORLDBEAT MUSIC. It was WorldBeat Music that catalpulted the �Buena Vista Social Club� into the World Market. I guess the closest to a WorldBeat Band that I saw for the first time was �Ipso-Facto� from Minneapolis, back in the 90s, and "The BoneDaddies. Although Ipso was more Reggae oriented. Then one summer night in Madison my date Peggy took me to see the Bone �Daddies (From San Francisco) @ The �Crystal Corner�; and that totally blew my mind away. Then I realized that if I was ever going to categorize myself, I want to be a WORLDBEAT ARTISTE. I like Salsa, Merengue, Timba, Rumba, Cha-cha-cha, Changui, Boleros, Mambo, Latin Jazz, Reggae, R&B, Son Montuno. Guarachas, Cumbias, Bachatas, Songo, Standars and beyond. I like good Music. So even though I don�t know how to play every style of Music in the WORLD, I still like to consider myself a WORLDBEAT ARTISTE. With my forte in Afro-Cuban Music. My Musical Roots. Primero �La Clave� Through �KARISON RECORDS � I distribute the Music that I record with my SOLO/ DUO project.with QUE-FLAVOR! And any other project, in which I own part of the Publishing Rights�.
