About fleming

Tommy Fleming is now recognised throughout his homeland of Ireland and across the world as one of the finest singers of his generation. Appealing to all ages, musical tastes and cultures, audiences have now recognised Tommy Fleming as a truly unique talent.

But the fact remains that Tommy Fleming is his own man, delivering song after song – each more haunting than the next. Be it a cover version or his own original material, Tommy Fleming’s velvet-toned voice makes each one his own.

After 20 years honing his craft, Tommy is now taking his place at the forefront of popular music across the globe. The mere mention of a Tommy Fleming concert has ‘sold out’ signs being displayed at venues from Dublin to Sydney within the space of minutes.

Born in Aclare, Co Sligo in Ireland in 1971, Tommy was always destined for a career in music having started singing while still at school. While fronting his own local band, it was a chance meeting with Phil Coulter – renowned composer and pianist - which gave Tommy his first big break when Phil asked him to guest on his tour of America. This led to Tommy establishing himself as a solo singer in his own right.

But his career has not been without its challenges. Tommy was involved in a serious car crash in 1998 that left him in pain for more than two years after suffering a broken neck.
The accident left Tommy fighting not only to win back the musical career he had fought long and hard to achieve, but also to win back his health.

Thankfully he did and today he has been rewarded with a loving and devoted fan-base as well as numerous awards from his peers in the music industry. Among them Tommy has won the Best Irish Male award at the Irish World Awards in the UK in 2008 and Best Irish Tenor 2010 in the Irish Music Association Awards in the USA. He has sold out tours of Australia, Ireland, Britain and America performing to sell-out audiences in such legendary venues as Carnegie Hall, New York, the Boston Symphony Hall and Sydney Opera House. Tommy is also the only performer to have been allowed perform, as well as selling out, Knock Basilica on two occasions.

Tommy has recorded 13 Multi-Platinum solo albums to date with combined sales of 1.5 million in Ireland alone. Tommy’s most recent album “The Platinum Collection” was released in October 2011 to celebrate his 20th anniversary in the music business. This is a special landmark for Tommy and features all his favourite recordings from the past 20 years.

Tommy Fleming’s star is on the rise and with each concert he plays, he is rewarded with a new group of lifelong fans. It’s not difficult to see why that fan-base has now become a global phenomenon.
