Carlos Enrique Mongrut

Seth CM | CMongrooves

Carlos Enrique Mongrut is a Peruvian-American piano experimentalist, baritone, composer, poet, and interdisciplinary performance artist whose work bridges classical piano, original songwriting, spoken word, and philosophical reflection. Performing acoustically under the name Seth CM, and electronically under the separate identity CMongrooves, Mongrut has developed a multidisciplinary artistic language rooted in emotional depth, cultural heritage, and the celebration of human potential.

Born in Lima, Peru in 1975, Mongrut began composing at age seventeen. His early creative formation was guided by Peruvian composer Aldo Guardia, under whom he developed both technical structure and a conceptual framework for composition. His first major work, Sensible Obra I—also referred to as “Squizophrenia”—introduced a philosophy that would define his career: art must be sensible—perceived through the senses and understood through inner awareness.

In the late 1990s, Mongrut emigrated to the United States. Living between cultures shaped his artistic voice, which often explores identity, duality, introspection, and transcendence. His performances combine piano, poetry, and song into immersive programs that invite audiences to reflect on their own inner creative capacity.

In 2004, his poem “The Dance” was recognized among the 33 Best New Poems by the International Library of Poetry, marking an early milestone in his literary trajectory.

Artistic Identities

Seth CM — Acoustic Piano, Baritone & Poetry

Under the performance name Seth CM, Mongrut presents fully acoustic concerts centered on piano, baritone vocal performance, and spoken word. These programs are intentionally structured in two parts:

Part One: Reflection and Introspection
Original piano compositions, poetic recitations, and literary excerpts from Spanish Golden Age and classical literature.

Part Two: Songs and Expression
Original songs performed with piano accompaniment, interwoven with poetry and personal dialogue with the audience.

Seth CM performances do not include electronic production. They are intimate, emotionally direct, and centered on storytelling and musical expression.

His programs often emphasize the theme that “everyone is extraordinary,” a concept that appears in both his music and spoken word pieces.

CMongrooves — Electronic and Experimental Production

As CMongrooves, Mongrut explores electronic composition, experimental soundscapes, and multi-track production. This body of work is separate from Seth CM’s acoustic presentations.

In 2020, he released Electro Mongrut, a 35-track electronic project that expanded his compositional voice into digital and atmospheric territories. His broader streaming catalog also includes the album Carlos Enrique Mongrut (2020), featuring 22 original piano and vocal works.

Selected titles from his catalog include:
• So You Tell Me
• Lost Soul
• Schizophrenia
• New Dimensions
• Emilie Sage
• The Passage (Extended Version)

The Mongrut Collaborative Performances

In addition to solo presentations, Mongrut performs alongside Jonathan Mongrut and Eitan Mongrut in multidisciplinary programs that combine music, poetry, and dialogue. These performances, often presented during Hispanic Heritage Month, are designed as celebrations of heritage, unity, and human potential.

Audiences can expect:
• Spoken word pieces exploring identity and brotherhood
• Original piano works
• Vocal performances
• Collaborative ensemble moments
• Direct engagement with the audience

For the 2026 Hispanic Heritage Month performances in Las Vegas, guitarist “Johnie Stomp” will join the ensemble at the Sahara West Library program.

Artistic Philosophy

His message—central to Todos Somos Extraordinarios—is that artistic expression is not reserved for a few, but is an inherent human quality.

Across continents and performance formats, Carlos Enrique Mongrut continues to build a body of work that unites classical structure, contemporary emotion, and philosophical introspection.
