DEBUT ALBUM "THE BIG DREAM" COMING OUT MARCH 28 AT DYLAN ON PEMBINA HWY

Deng Achiek Alith AKA KingDeng is not in the lineage of TU Pac and many other artists that descended from him. He does not wear a bandana or have tattoos. He is not a promoter of gangs or drug culture. KingDeng is a rapper with a dream and hope for young people. He was born in the Sudan and lived in the Dinka Bor village. His first musical memories were that of his uncle always singing as he carried the young Deng in his arms. The murder of his father by renegade soldiers was the turning point in Deng's life. His mother insisted that Deng leave the life of the village and find a way to get an education. She knew that her husband's death was the result of his lowly status as a farmer and did not want her son to share the same fate.

He fled to Khartoum only to find that military conscription awaited him and he would have to find refuge elsewhere. The journey brought him to Canada. It was here that he began his education. He saw fellow students give up or get involved with gangs and drugs. Over and over he would say to himself "Patience". Within himself he knew that if he went slow, took everything step by step, he would come out where he wanted to be. He devoted himself to his studies at Gordon Bell High School. He continued to explore and develop his love of music and took band classes and sang in the choir. Deng's musical style evolved from performing in small venues like that of the school’s coffee houses.

His first album "The Big Dream" is a tribute to father. The song came to him in a dream and is also reflective of Deng's journey in following a dream of a better life as his mother wished. Lastly, it is reflective of Deng's hope that all young people follow their dream despite the hardships they face.
