| About SuperHood | Born : Demil Levi Johnson (January 3, 1981) Demil a/k/a Super Hood, is no stranger to the music community. Born at Cook County Hospital and growing up on Chicago’s notorious south side neighborhood, Englewood, Demil learned to adapt to his surroundings. Englewood is where the city has it’s highest murder rate. As he grew up, he saw the area turn violent and watch a lot of his friends die in the street. With no way out and clueless, at the age of 13 he found a guitar discarded in a alley in a torn old case with three strings missing. He put new strings on that guitar and carried it everywhere he went. But in the inner city that was like being “soft”. His friends would laugh and joke calling him names such as “wanna be rock star” or say his music was too white. He hung out with his friends who also inspired to become Hip-Hop artists. Because when you live in the hood you dream to be the next great Hip-Hop artist. That was everybody hopes and dreams in the hood. He would go to one of their friend’s basement studios. He watch them make and create all kinds of new music. So he decided to try working on making his own music and before he knew it, he was producing music for his friends. He was so good at producing music, that once people heard his sound, they would come and ask him to produce beats for them as well. Once her learned how to rap, everyone wanted him on their track. But, no one wanted to pay him. So he had to find a way to make some money. The only way he knew was to sale “rocks” and “blows”. He made it good and he still had his music on his mind. Things began to go bad for him when he was caught selling drugs and sentence to twenty four months. He reflected on his life as he sat in his cell and thought about all the mistakes he made. He vowed that when he got out, he would become the entertainer he always wanted to be. When he was released in the late 90’s, he produced a song called “Bounce” that was a house track, which is still being heard through clubs everywhere. He also produced songs on the Major Payne Soundtrack and was co-producer Mr. C The Slide Man by MC Casper. Which went on to become gold then platinum. Still something was missing and he had that rock and roll feeling going through him. So he went back in the studio with that same old guitar and created his rock and roll sound. Still living in the same neighborhood in Chicago, his stage name became SUPER HOOD! Growing up in the hood was hard and he didn’t want to forget how it inspired him. You will hear it in some of his songs like “Why Test Me” ,“They Fear What They Can’t Control“, “She So Cold“, “Lord Have Mercy On Me“, “Crossing Over“, “Tha Ghetto“, and “Super Hood Did It“. This is rock mixed in with the ways of the hood, from real experiences. Super Hood’s style of music is being heard through out the country and now being accepted in a hood near you. Super Hood has that cross over appeal, because people identify with a lot of his lyrics. The world has the same issues and topics. Super Hood produced and wrote all his songs and is still producing for other artists. Now, it is time to introduce……… SUPER HOOD! He has proven he is ready for the world and the world better get ready for him. His new CD, titled “ROCK PARTY!” will be a force to compete with in the industry. His style of music will change how people in the hood see Rock and Roll. Super Hood’s inspirations come from entertainers like Jimmy Hendrix, Bo Diddly, Slash, Bob Marley, among a host of others.
