About Angie Contini

Angie Contini is an experimental interdisciplinary artist and writer living on Gadigal land, and co-curator of The Salons. She has a BA in music and film studies (awarded first-class Honours and The University Medal 2013), and a PhD from the University of Sydney (2018).

Angie's music composition works extend from solo piano compositions to singer/songwriter albums. Recordings and music scores are available through songcast music, itunes and Wirripang Publishers.
Angie’s essays, artworks and poems are published in open-access journals and anthologies. Her most recent interdisciplinary writing projects include the poetry and hand-cut collage work fierCe (Flying Islands, 2023) and the photographic-rumination essay Becomings (Gothic Nature Journal, 2023).

The Man With the Pears and Other Tales, released in February 2010, features Angie (vocals, melodica, piano and found sounds), Leonie Cohen (piano), Stan Valacos (double bass), Nigel Date (guitar), and Tim Bradley (drums). Songs from this album appeared most recently in Angie's multimedia solo exhibitions at The Shop Gallery, Glebe (May 2019), and Scratch Art Space (September 2019).
