About Pollie Pop Tha DJ / Choppin Game Entertainment & Records Inc | Born as Jairus Adams on July 30, 1979 in Corpus Christi, Texas and raised between there and Houston, Texas, he became fascinated and heavily involved with music. He learned to play the piano and excelled at playing every instrument in the percussion section in his middle school band. Pollie Pop fell in love with Screw music after hearing the first ever Screwed song “Swangin’ and Bangin’” in which was a collaborative effort between ESG and the late great DJ Screw in 1992. From then on he attempted to purchase every Screw Tape, commonly known as “The Grey Tape.” When DJ Michael “5000” Watts of Swishahouse came along in the mid 90’s (there was a purchase of every tape by him also), Pollie Pop realized that it was possible for another person to do this. In 1998, while attending Prairie View A&M University, he, along with some friends, began playing around with tapes and CD’s and figured out a way to “Screw & Chop” songs themselves, thus Beltway 8 Records was formed. Here, Pollie Pop was responsible for doing the vast majority of the Screwed & Chopped remix production on various albums for Beltway 8 artists as well as other artists on other record labels which led to a widely popular underground power. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in late 2002, Pollie Pop parted ways with Beltway 8 Records and continued to Screw & Chop projects on his own as Pollie Pop Productions and also through his record label, Choppin’ Game Entertainment & Records Inc. The most notable work that Pollie Pop has completed to date is on two albums released through Rap A Lot / Asylum by the artist Trae the Truth. The first album was released in August 2006 entitled Restless S.L.A.B.-ed by Pollie Pop. The second was released in December 2007 entitled Life Goes On S.L.A.B.-ed by Pollie Pop. Some of the other artists that Pollie Pop has worked with are of Z-Ro, Guerilla Maab, Billy Cook Superstar, Big Pokey, the late H.A.W.K., Yungstar, JB the Host, and many more artists from the Houston rap market. After completing his Masters of Business Administration in December 2007 from Prairie View A&M University, Pollie Pop has involved himself in various projects. He has formed along, with another former Beltway 8 member, Super Dave, the DJ duo called The PCDJ’s with the mission focusing on regionally promoting and marketing independent and major label artists with their mixtapes and bringing forth Screwed & Chopped versions of their albums. Pollie Pop is also promoting Super Dave and his singles “Walk It Witta Swag,” “All Tha Time,” and “True Hip Hop” in preparation for the release of his debut album. In addition to these things, Pollie Pop is also working on various mixtapes including his Cup of Drank Screwed & Chopped Rap series, his Wet N Da Mood Screwed & Chopped Slow Jam series, the Swag Mixtape series with Super Dave and his collaborative effort with Trae the Truth on his mixtape / album releases. With nominations three years in a row for SEA Awards (Southern Entertainment Awards) in the categories of Best Chopped / Screwed Mixtape (aka The DJ Screw Award) and the category of Best Slow Jam Mixtape, Pollie Pop hopes to continue to expand upon his creativeness by networking and promoting himself, his artists and his production team by assisting independent and major label artists with their Screwed & Chopped projects (whether albums, mixtapes or singles) and the composition of new music in order to increase his fanbase.
