About will Ferrett

My musical influences originate mainly from the pop/punk/rock world and i write mostly about my everyday experiences both personal and political. My first big musical influences came from my mum who sadly passed away this August due to cancer. She would play stuff ranging from Gene Pitney to classic rock ‘n’ roll and the Beatles every Sunday morning whilst cooking a roast. However, it was my elder brother’s love of the Sex Pistols in the late 70s early 80s which really made me sit up and take notice. I grew up on a council estate in the centre of Portsmouth with my brothers and sisters, i being the youngest of eight, so there was always music in the house (one of my older brothers loved Madness and another the Specials, that sort of thing). I’m not sure how my Mum and Dad did it but we have all turned out reasonably well rounded. Since then influences range from The Clash, Nirvana, Billy Bragg and the Smiths to Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and Ella Fitzgerald to name but a few.
