About Angus MacRaild

My name is Angus MacRaild, I'm a 25 year old songwriter based in Glasgow, although I'm frequently away traveling. I think of myself as a songwriter who sings out of necessity. I'm fascinated by the idea of the 'song' as a means of communication and the practice of songcraft. My sound is rooted in folk and a mixture of various acoustic fingerpicking styles. I love messing around with open tunings and for me melody is the primary basis of songwriting. I've been playing guitar since I was 12 but I only started writing songs about three years ago. I dabble in a few other instruments but guitar is my main focus. I hope you like my songs, they were all recorded in Glasgow over the course of three very long and intense recording sessions that took place between June and November 2010. At the end of these sessions I had 58 songs recorded, the album 12 songs contains some of my preferred cuts from these sessions.
