Beautiful

She stands on her toes reaching out for that shiny green CD she loves amongst the other albums above her bookshelf. Grasping it in her hands she admires the CD and smiles at it one last time before she places it in the grey portable Emerson CD player. Spinning around the room and jumping all over the place, her purple My Little Pony nightie twirls as she begins to sing ‘So Yesterday’ by Hilary Duff.

Isabella Marie Gonzalez (also known as Bella Marie), is a sixteen year old talented musician from Brisbane, Australia. Music has always been a huge part of Bella's life. Singing and dancing to Avril Lavigne and Hilary Duff at the age of 4, Bella was already able to memorise the lyrics of the entire album even before knowing how to read! At this young age of 4, her father noticed her passion for singing and decided to take it a step further by dedicating his time for his daughter. Bella’s father began to train her; starting off simple, then eventually letting her belt out to the songs of Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston on the karaoke in their home in Sydney at the time.

At around the age of 8, Bella began to learn how to play the keyboard/piano. She took a couple of piano lessons in order to learn the instrument’s basics, but eventually had to quit due to the expenses. She did not stop playing however, instead she became much more determined to pursue learning. Bella began learning it on her own through the help of her loving parents, books, websites, YouTube tutorials and even by ear.

By the time Bella reached the age of 11, she was now very familiar with her keyboard. She had knowledge of many chords, notes, sounds, beats and other musical elements. This is when she decided to start writing songs. Her dad had guided her with techniques of how to create a basic song structure (verse, bridge, chorus etc) as well as melody and lyrics. Bella’s very first composition “Keep On Falling In Love” was created through playing repetitive chords using the keyboard demo rhythms and presets. This can still be found on YouTube today under Isabella Marie Gonzalez - Keep On Falling In Love. (YouTube account: ggonzalez8881)

At this age until around the age of 13, Bella started joining many competitions, whether it was at locally, nationally or even at her school. She has auditioned numerous times for popular TV shows such as X Factor, The Voice and Australia’s Got Talent, but was unfortunately never able to get through to appearing on live television as she was still quite young at the time.

Throughout the years, both of Bella’s parents continued to encourage and support her with her dreams and love for music. She has come a long way with this passion and will not give it up for anything.

Nowadays, Bella has been continuously composing music and has about more than 40 original compositions altogether (although not all have been distributed in the markets yet).

During high school, she has become more passionate with writing music. She believes that she can easily express her emotions and feelings this way. Now as a teenager in her senior year of high school, Bella writes about every day life situations such as, people, friends, places, love, happiness, school situations, heartbreak, parties etc. (even though she’s never really been to any). She says that she is so glad that she’s gotten into song writing, because not only is it able to express the way she feels about things, but because it opens up her mind; her imagination and creativity, being able to see and understand her surroundings in different perspectives.

For the past 2 years, Bella has, and still is, composing, mixing and producing music herself through the use of DAWs. Her parents have supplied her with just enough musical equipment to help her reach her dreams in music. Every day she continues to learn and enhance her skills in writing, mixing and singing in order to become a better artist and role model to society and younger generations.

Music has and always will be a huge part of Bella's life. She will continue to work hard and make music for the world to hear, hoping that one day she, herself, can be a good inspiration to all younger aspiring musicians, just the same as how Avril Lavigne and even modern day artists such as, Taylor Swift, Kesha and Katy Perry had inspired her.
