With his father as a composer, music teacher and multi-instrumentalist, Benjamin Black grew up playing many instruments, with a special emphasis on piano and an international collection of drums.

As an artist, Black writes and produces his own brand of R&B/soul music, drenched with funk, gospel, rock and house. He's been described as "Barry White meets Jamiroquai meets Earth Wind & Fire...positive, universal, deep, evocative, funky, soulful house... mellow, funky, and seductively down–tempo."

As a composer and producer, Black has provided music for TV, feature film, commercials, and live shows. He’s worked with blockbuster producer Jerry Bruckheimer, supermodel Tyra Banks, comedian Chris Rock, actor Nicholas Cage, Victoria’s Secret, Disney, Playboy, E! Entertainment, Nike, Sony, Warner Brothers, Universal Pictures, Fox Searchlight, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and many others.

He has performed on stage with many multi-platinum selling artists and Grammy and Oscar winners, including Chick Corea, Doug E. Fresh, Composer Mark Isham, and Isaac Hayes in addition to solo performances nationwide in venues such as Stanford University's Frost Amphitheater and Billboard Live in Los Angeles.

Black studied music at Haverford College and Stanford University.
