Shawn Lerato Sephethu, 22 (16 may 1997), is a composer/beatmaker, a rapper, a singer, a songwriter and a Pilot. He was born at Bethlehem (Free State Province). At the age of 4, his family moved to Alexandra Township (Gauteng Province). He was raised by his mother, a single parent.
As a teenager, growing up has had him encountering a lot of challenges in his Town (Alexanddra township, regarded by many people to be a harsh and dangerous place to live at), he was raised by a single mother, though growing up without a father did not deter him from focusing on achieving his dreams, his mother was very strict on his teen stages and was always keeping a sharp eye on his behavior and well being.
Music:
Shawn's preferred Genres are Hip Hop (Trap) and RnB, as a composer, writer, singer, rapper and producer he started doing music at the age of 16, when he was just in his 10th grade. He started writing songs and his classmates gave him positive reviews and that inspired him to be more determined to pursue a music career.
In November 2014, he met Mr. Moses Sibeko, a music producer, engineer and label owner (SBK Entertainment Pty (Ltd)) at Thusong Youth Centre. After playing him his demos, they started working together on releasing an album only during his spare time. Then, in 2015 they made an agreement to suspend the recording so that he can focus on his schooling (grade 12) and start after the final exams.
They started working together again in 2016 only on weekends and he also started teaching him how to record and mix because he wanted to know more. He felt that it was not enough to be an artist, “one must also know and understand music production” so said Shawn.
Back in 2017 they started working more flexible due to Shawn being able to manage finiship up in high and then able to start properly managing school and music schedules.
Shawn now sits on a total of over 60 projects in both full music and beats, of which 25 projects were split into two albums by the manes of 'After The First Try'and 'I met the time'. Although Shawn has not released any of the albums as he was busy on studio working on other projects and finessing the skills of music production as well as making sure that the music he makes is good enough to reach international quality.
He has worked with various artists either as a composer or a featured artist or featuring other fellow upcoming artists.
In 2016 Shawn tried releasing a single 'I made a call' but It did not get airplayed since the release methods weren't as effective, so with that given he then focused on just improving on craft and making more music for himself and beats for other people to work on too.
Academics:
He finished his matric (12th Grade) in 2015 at Liberty Community School. In 2016 he enrolled at the University of Johannesburg for a B.Com (Information Systems) degree course, but dropped out after the first semester as he knew that it was not what he wanted to do.
In the same year (2016), he got awarded a bursary that he always wished for so as to study aviation and this is something that he always dreamt of studying since he was a young boy!
In August 2016, he enrolled and became a student at Loutzavia Rand, now called Elite Aviation Academy. As a Pilot in training, He is currently a private pilot and now he's now working towards getting his Commercial Pilot's License, "One of my biggest goals is to have myself a flight school one day so that I can help all "yougins" who wish to fly make it a reality" so said Shawn.
