Born in Detroit, Michigan. Grew up in Sacramento, California during the 60's and 70's listening to gospel, folk, popular, rock, classical and jazz music artists. Heavily influenced by Motown, pop, soul, jazz and dance music.
I studied guitar in my early teens and was a tenor with the youth choir of New Hope Baptist Church. During high school I was also a member of Moments of Blessings House of Prayer Choir in Sacramento which performed with the great Shirley Ceasar.
I began writing songs while living and working in New York City years after studying drama at California State University Sacramento and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. During my years working in New York, I also worked temporarily at Arista Records, hand delivering documents to Clive Davis' desk on occasion.
